KATHERINE B. FORREST
United States District Judge

Katherine Bolan Forrest (born February 13, 1964) is a partner at New York law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, and a former United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.

She was cited as one of the country’s leading practitioners in the antitrust and intellectual property arenas in Chambers USA 2007: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business. The American Lawyer also cited Forrest as one of the top 50 young litigators in the U.S. and by Lawdragon as one of the leading litigators in the nation. In 2005, she was named in the Global Competition Review (GCR) in the “40 Under 40” issue “as one of the top competition practitioners or economists worldwide.” Forrest was also profiled in the GCR “as one of the top women antitrust practitioners worldwide. “In 2010, Forrest represented United Airlines in winning approval for its merger with Continental Airlines. In October 2010, Forrest left Cravath when Assistant Attorney General Christine A. Varney recruited her to join the United States Department of Justice as a Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Antitrust Division.

Significant cases

In 2017 UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT, SOUTHERN DISTRICT OF NEW YORK vs. NORMA LYNCH, LINDA BRISBANE, CYMAH LOVELL, KENNETH MILLER, NATISHA SMITH, and CHIVON DANIELS, case 16-cv-5677 (KBF) – she said “Only the department of labor and IRS may use the section 29 U.S.C.A. 216 (b)” … “The Department of Labor would have to determine whether the plaintiff did not receive the overtime granted”……..Based upon the decertification, the parties should re-evaluate the evidence they need to support the positions of any particular plaintiffs……. whether they stand on their partial motions for summary judgment as written, or whether they would like to change or modify them to take into account any additional evidence they would like to submit.
